Update:
For quite some time now, it has been no secret that we have come to the end of "known territory," and the task at hand is to create our own individual maps, going forward. Yuk Yee's personal experience of stepping through that threshold happened quietly, in a moment of conscious awareness, April 12, 2008.
(journal entry):
Collectively, we have turned a corner. I can feel it.
The change is subtle: it is in the air, in the breath, in a clear glimpse of inner vision. It is in a spontaneous impulse to do old things, and being surprised at the newness.
Yesterday i was digging in the dirt and trying to get a jump on the first weeds. Unexpectedly, a subtle new feeling took me into a kind of ... contemplation, a realization that we are moving into a new time, and i, too, am moving into a new season, a new phase of my life ... feeling older, and somehow renewed. And, instead of just doing yard-work in a robotic and overwhelmed state because it is needed - i am once again "tending to my garden" (something which has been back-burnered and neglected for many years.) So the past two days have been kind of a mindfulness meditation - focused entirely on one weed at a time, carefully and thoroughly clearing the slate.
What unfolded from this point was a year long process of internal breakdown/breakthroughs, some sort of softening and reconstruction of the ego-ic identity. All of which has brought her to the present moment, realizing that what has now emerged is a special sensitivity to this process which some have labeled a 'dark night of the soul', along with certain skills - new to her - which may be of assistance to others.
With humility and gratitude for the support that was there for her, and in particular to two amazing friends without whom her journey would have been much darker, there is a new appreciaton for the old phrase: As Without, So Within; What comes around, goes around. Somehow, the Universe does make available the support to help us through.
